Abstract:
The present paper introduces a new Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method to help the photovoltaic (PV) modules reach maximum power due to the improved P&O (Perturb and observe) algorithm combined with the Fuzzy Logic Control method. The power from the PV source through the boost converter has a working point that always tracks the maximum power point thanks to the improved P&O and fuzzy algorithm. This method allows adaptive correction of the perturbation step so that the power reaches a new maximum value quickly when the irradiances change suddenly at a constant temperature of 250C. The proposed algorithm simulated on Matlab/Simulink shows that the solar panel capacity always reaches the maximum power point and reduces the transient period significantly compared to the traditional P&O method. Research results show that the improved fuzzy P&O method results in fast response, less oscillation and better performance of solar panels than other methods.
