SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, ACHIEVEMENT AND ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
It is obvious that Engineering and Technology play a very important role in the industrial development. Tra Vinh University has established the School of Engineering and Technology with four departments, including Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering and an Administration Office. The school has 80 fulltime faculty members and staffs, who are young, active and inquisitive. Strategically, the school has been carrying out plans for fostering, studying in order to improve its profession.Every year, the school enrolls over 500 new students.. Especially, 90% of graduated students were able to find jobs after one year graduation.
To achieve an effective and quality education service that meets all society’s demands, the school has build up close relationships with enterprises. As a result, Co-op programs are the first priority in the process of training and education. Recently, the school has cooperated with 8 enterprises for training in Co-op programs and has contracted with 30 businesses and recruiters from inside and outside of Tra Vinh province.
Led by nationally and globally recognized researchers, students have been engaging in research projects that address some of the most important challenges over the world today. Research areas include optimal using and management of energy, renewable energy, construction project management, automation applications in agriculture and aquaculture, automobile engineering, image processing and machine learning, natural language processing, network and information security. From 2012 to 2016, the school has published 40 journal papers (25 ISI and Scopus papers) and 15 conference papers. In addition, the school has also obtained numerous individual and collective honours and awards.
In the next five years, the school will focus on improving the quality of faculty members, enhancing the working process according to the ISO standard, 9001:2008. The school will also update all curriculums to meet practical demands, especially, Co-op programs with the model Win – Win – Win (Students – School – Enterprises), and revise educational programs according to international standard AUN, ABET. The school is strongly committed to continue improving the learning and research environment with aiming to conduct high influences and impact research areas, and educate students to be talents in engineering and technology. In the vision of the next ten years, the school will strive to be one of the top-ranked schools for engineering and technology in Vietnam, in top 100 universities in Asia for engineering and technology
1.Control and Automation Engineering
This program is an excellent start-off point for areas of the control automation field. The program focuses on automation, robotics, industrial controls and productivity- focusing on what the modern manufacturers need for new employees. People who graduate in control and automation engineering fields can work as developers who can either maintain or repair the control and automation of telecommunication systems. They can also work as managers, designers, or consultants in this field, lecturers in institutes or universities, and they are able to sell control and automation or telecommunication products.
2. Civil Engineering
Guaduates in Civil engineering can work on several infrastructure projects such as the desgin and construction of buildings, bridges, roads, highway, streets, parks, and water supply systems.
The program has been designed to provide students with skills and knowledge in surveying, construction estimating, basic structural design, reinforce concrete, geotechnical analysis and foundation design, road, and highway design, construction inspection, project management, consultant for designing and consultant quality assessment for construction. Guaduated students are also able to be a managers in the construction offices and to run construction companies as well.
3. Information Technology
Nowadays, computer industry is blooming and you would like to be part of it?
The program has been designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in Network management or software development for the following areas: consult, design, setup and manage network systems, programmers, system analyst for software companies, computer systems support for enterprises, and lecturers in institutes or universities.
4. Electrical Engineering
The electrical industry is expanding in response to new power electronic and computer technologies being integrated into power systems and automation. Traditional electrical power generation, transmission, distribution and PLCs along with innovation in renewable energy, power electronics and microcontrollers give graduates a leading edge in the job market. Graduates of this program work in positions ranging from assembly technicians, apprentice electricians, researchers in enterprises, technical specialists, and quality control supervisors. Graduates can also run well a business company in electrical engineering.
5. Mechanical Engineering
Flexible and lean manufacturing techniques are the cornerstone of the modern industry. Mechanical engineering graduates have been trained to work independently in the design, development, maintenance, and testing of machines and equipments in modern manufacturers. Graduates of this program can also work as managers, designers, or consultants in engineering field of manufacturers, lecturers in institutes or universities, and they are also able to run well a business company in Mechanical engineering.
