Abstract:
Currently, the design and manufacture of customized CNC milling machines are becoming more and more popular. The choosing and using of CAD/CAM/CNC software compatible with the configuration of the CNC milling machine is the main factor in determining the machining performance. This paper presents the application process of Fusion 360 software to determine its compatibility in designing and programming of a 5-axis mini CNC milling machine specifically for machining small-sized fine arts products. Fusion applications in this study are presented from CAD design to machining simulation and experimentation on CNC milling machines with customized configurations along with specific milling tools. Experimental results show that, the finished product has geometric similarity with the CAD model. Therefore, it can be seen that Fusion’s features for machine structure declaration and G-code post-processing are extremely suitable for home made CNC machines with customized configurations. The study results can be considered to apply for the design and manufacture of CNC machines in civil and industrial engineering
