Abstract:
With the continuous development of science and technology, the space steel truss structure is
now used popularly in the industrial construction industry, especially large projects such as
stadiums, railway stations, etc. The space steel truss structure is a type of load-bearing structure
that consists of rod-shaped elements on many planes to create a very strong multi-dimensional
bearing structure. The space steel truss structure can exceed through very large apertures that
are difficult or ineffective for concrete and brick structures. There are many forms of the space
steel truss structure that enhance the aesthetic beauty of the building. In addition, the space steel
truss structure has reasonable structural parts so the structure is very light. This is the most
economical solution for projects which has over 30 meters spans. It is necessary to build an
accurate designing model for the space steel truss structure to ensure its bearing capacity and the
structure’s shape. This paper is to present how to use SAP2000 V16 to build various types of
space steel truss structure during the stage of structural design
