Abstract:
This paper is to perform analysis and calculation of diaphragm wall with deep-
bored piles having small diameters. Accordingly, this research has used the design records
of actual projects and Plaxis and Sap2000 programs were utilized to redesign the
diaphragm wall according to current standards. The author’s results are then compared
with the design records for the following factors: pile length, pile reinforcement and pile
diameter. The results show that the diaphragm restaining wall design is in fact very safe
because the design records are greater than the author’s redesign results from 7,1% to
89,1%. Therefore, it is recommended that engineers design the diaphragm wall with small
diameter bored piles to reduce the pile reinforcement, pile length, and pile diameter while
still ensuring adequate bearing capacity and reasonable price.
