Abstract:
Differential on cars is responsible for transmitting torque from the engine to the active wheels and making the car move; Besides, it also allows the active wheels to rotate at different speeds when their rolling resistance on the two sides is different. However, the ability to transmit power deteriorates when cars move on complicated roads. The paper presents the analysis and model the elements in the differential, and analytical model for the transmission of the mechanical differential in the automotive transmission system. Matlab/Simulink software is employed to simulate the transmission of mechanical differentials under different conditions. Thereby, the laws of motion of the differential transmission are carefully analyzed and the factors affecting on its operation are also evaluated. Accordingly, various strategies are proposed to improve the transmission efficiency of the powertrain on cars.
